The resources use a data model that is supported by a set of client-side libraries that are made available on the files and libraries page.

So we've added an empty child class with the same serialVersionUID = 1L; when deserializd, it will correctly fill all the fields and because they are the same (we only moved the class) and internally we will still be able to treat it as the parent class. it's possible that we could also do this the other way, but this works for now.
